This was for a member here who had purchased the knife at a show but it only came with a clip-on sheath. He wanted something that would put the handle of the knife below the bottom edge of a kilt belt, hence the 13.5" length.
The knife is a Smith & Wesson. It's very well balanced and fits nicely in the hand (maybe he won't notice that all he receives back is the sheath )
It's made of the same bridle leather as my belts. The sheath is hand-sewn with a welt due to the thick blade.
It was a lot of fun to make. I've been wanting to make a replacement sheath for my Officer Sgian Dubh that is molded to the shape of the knife and extends up the handle to hold it snuggly (and protect the kilt hose from the blade as you put it back in the sheath) Something like this though not as high.
Another member here has done a similar sheath but I don't recall who it was.

i apologize if this is an inappropriate place to ask. I have a beautiful antler handled knife with a length of seven inches. It already has a sheath for it, but the sheath is too big for my kilt hose. Would it be possible to bug you to make something to fit it for me?

When I obtained the knife up in Pigeon Forge, TN at the Smokey Mountain Knife Works I wanted a sheath that would both be able to be hung from my kilt belt, have easy/fast access, and not get in the way when I am doing photo work in the mountains, as well as provide a match for a sporran that I had in mind. Steve took my ideas and made them into a true work of art, sturdy, and reflecting the Celtic theme. I couldn't be more pleased. The knife was also my way of trying to find something that was both semi-traditional, large enough to actually do some good, and with simple lines. It is made by Smith and Wesson with good construction, quality steel and sharp blades....for a whopping 20.00. Together, the two could not be more to my liking. Steve is a MASTER craftsman!!!!!!

Isn't that place amazing??? Every time we pass that exit I try my best to stop in and browse for at least a few minutes. My wife usually confiscates my wallet beforehand..
