Uilleann Pipe help

I was just curious if anyone could give me any feed back on Lark in the Morning Uilleann Pipes. After looking at several different sites I still can't get any response about that company's brand. Does anyone know of their quality? LITM has a good reputation with me for being curtious and helpful so nothing against the co. I just need to know if they would be worth it before I drop my economic stimulus on the full set that they offer. Better to be cautious than get screwed I always say.

Avoid buying uilleann pipes through a middleman such as LITM. Purchase them directly from a maker.

More importantly, listen to as much uilleann piping as you can, learn the styles, learn which pipers play instruments by which makers. Ask questions of people who *do* play UP.

Get a practice set to begin with - that is to say, a chanter, bag and bellows. Drones and regulators can be added later. Get to know your maker. He'll be of great help to you over the years on everything from assessing your playing skills and style to getting you reeds in an emergency.

There are many great makers working today, but do not be tempted by the first set you see. Get the set you *want*.

Above all, avoid instruments manufactured in the Indian subcontinent.

I've played UP for over 15 years at this point and love them. Take your time, learn to play them right and enjoy them for the rest of your life.
