    First kilts and first outting

Alright so I just got my first 2 kilts yesterday from Stillwater (I took advice and bought 2) and I never even once thought that I would love it this much. I got myself 2 thriftys, a black watch and a MacLaren. I figured I would try out going out in a kilt at church today seeing how they know me all too well there. Wearing the below picture get up (without the boots, I had some flip-flops on) I got the occasional "Nice skirt" and I just replyed back with a "thanks but it is usually called a kilt" and yes I did get "the question" from a friend of mine but asked "you are wearing underwear... right?" so I just smiled at her and didn't say a thing. Afterwards I did a run to a couple of stores to find some good boots to go with my kilt because I didn't really have anything but flip-flops and slip-on shoes (nothing that went really well). 4 stores later I find some nice boots at Wal-mart and I go to lunch with my Mom at Wendy's. Well we drove seperately and I decided to do a stop at a media store because I heard that they were hiring and I need to find a new job. Now I have a job interview for tomorrow wear I will wear my Black Watch. Now onto Wendy's where while waiting in line a guy from school comes around the corner (he works there) and says "It's even worse, I know the guy" we talked a bit and I went to a friends house where I tried on the boots and took the below pic.

Congrats on the two kilts, you chose two of the better looking tartans too.

I'd like to offer some advice, if I may. Sometime soon you may want to invest in a leather sporran strap and replace the chain strap. The reason being that the chain can cause some damage to the tartan material over time (rubbing). Sporran straps aren't expensive (Stillwater Kilts sells to different types) and there are many here who have made their own from leather dog leashes, leather bag straps, and some (including myself) who have made them from scratch - items from a leather craft store.

Other than that, you're looking good (the boots go great with the kilt) and well on your way to a kilted life. Good on you!

    Right On!
I'll second that, especially since the kilt is not wool it will show the chafing even faster. I only use a chain for formal occasions any more.

My nephew (Seamus here on Xmarks) started wearing his kilt to high school here in the Chicago area (he's in college now). He had mostly good experiences - here's a link to one of his experiences at school
