Lagavulin...nooooo!
During my stay in D.C. last month, I was told by the waitstaff that the Lagavulin distillery burned down.....again (!) and that there would be no more coming until 2010.
Say it ain't so, but there's not a drop left here in AZ that I can find.
heavy sigh.

Odd, I haven't heard about that and I couldn't find it on the news anywhere at all.

I couldn't find anything about it either! I don't know, it seems odd to me. Why 2010???
Assuming that it did burn down:
If they were no Lagavulin to be had, then it would take longer than 2 to rebuild the distillery and then age the whisky.
If there is still whisky about, why will it be squirreled away for those two years. When I was buying myself a lovely birthday present (early/mid-July) there was still plenty of it in the Williamsburg ABC store...

Since Google News shows nothing about a fire there for, oh, almost a half-century, I call BS.

Lagavulin distillery
Hi John, since this is my favourite Whisky i had t check this claim oot, after researching the STV and BBC web sites, its still open but closed for the summer. And my local Asda, Sainsbury and Tescos food/grocery stores have plenty on the shelves in Oxford. So lets not worry about any shortage as yet, only the outrageous TAX on whisky (last i heard 93%) which will change when Scotland becomes independent in 2 yrs time.

If that happens, expect the tax on everything else to go up...

You are no doubt quite correct that the taxes will not remain at 93% on whisky. It will have to be double that to pay for all the promises that have been made,by certain people. I will say no more.

Just picked up a bottle up here in Flagstaff.
Lass likes it.
I think it smells kinda like Hillshire Farms sausage.
