Pinstripe kilts
Who (besides Hammish) has or has seen in real life the 21st century kilts pinstripe suits? I'm thinking of saving my pennies and nickels (for many years at that rate) and getting one.
Hammish, any chance I could see the pleats on the one you have?

Yagh!
While I'm sure they can look sharp, as if I didn't already look like a Japanese schoolgirl wearing my trad. kilt, a pinstripe one would seal the deal and I'd be labeled a cross-dresser. (No, that shouldn't discourage you from getting one) but it's just that in the city where I live, a number of high schools have adopted pin-striped pleated skirts as their school uniforms... I'd never be able to wear one in my corner of the globe.

OFCJAX,
I'm in the same boat. I also like 21st Century's pinstripe kilt suits. I've never seen one in reality, but I've seen them on film and in photos. But 21st does great work.

Hi everybody! (delurking here)
My wife ran one of the venues at the Edinburgh festival a few years back and a number of the bar staff had 21st Century pinstripe kilts. They generally wore them with open-necked, untucked shirts and looked very cool indeed.
I own a solid black 21st Century Kilt which (I imagine) would be pleated the same as the pinstripe ones. I can probably post a picture later if nobody beats me to it.
I can certainly confirm they produce a very nice kilt indeed.

I'm not poo-pooing pin-striped kilts for anyone else, but because I wear pin-striped suits nearly every business day, I'll pass on such for my kilt.

I got some pinstripe material and made myself one. I'm also having a matching jacket and vest made (should be here within a week or so)...
One thing I will say after completeing the kilt. GET THE JACKET AND VEST TOO. IMHO, the pinstripe kilt ALONE looks like a "woman's business skirt", but with the matching jacket and vest (and tie and hose and flashes, etc), it will look like a "kilt suit".

I've been thinking about a TFCK suit, too, but I'm still not too sure about the pinstripes. There are other suiting materials, windowpane plaids for instance, that I think would look very handsome made up into a kilt suit.
Maybe someday...

Here is Ham's review of one of his pinstripe kilt suits, complete with a pleat shot.

I really like the idea of a pinstripe kilt suit, but would be careful not to wear the kilt on it's own, however I think you could wear the jacket and waistcoat with another kilt if it was the right tartan.

Also nothing says you have to go with a dark pinstripe. This gray si awesome especially with a dark vest.
