Sporran belt

I Recently ordered a sporran from SWK(it's great) but the only problem is the chain belt is too big even after I made made new holes in the leather strap. Now the only way I would be able to make it smaller is to start taking out the chain links. So my question is this: Where do they sell sporran belts for stick figures? Or would sporran hangers be the better way to go?

I'd cut the chain on both sides until it hangs right.

I had the same problem, both with my belt and my 4 year olds. So I did just what McMurdo suggested and it's working out just fine now.

No one will ever mistake me for a stick figure, but I have had to remove links from chain belts. It's not hard to do. Just make sure you take an equal number from each side.

At first I took off the links, then I stopped using chain all together. I see you brought up sporran hangers, but I would suggest getting a regular 3/4 inch leather dress belt that matches the color of your sporran. On the SWK sporrans, that size belt fits through the loop on the back just fine.

Those chains are not good for your kilt because they have sharp edges where the ends meet. A welded and polished chain like for a dog collar would be a lot better if you must have chain.

That's a good solution for casual wear. I bought such a belt in the ladies' section at Target.

For formal wear, however, he's going to want a chain.

Ted Crocker sounds like he has the definitive answer. However, since I was in a hurry, I did what everyone else has suggested with my SWK sporran belt and cut the chain. The links are relatively soft, so a medium-sized pair of pliers with the cutting part near the handle did the trick just fine.

I forgot to say that I would suggest that you get yourself an all leather sporran strap, at some point as the chain part of your belt can damage your kilt after a while.

Just to educate, not to scold, the correct term seems to be "sporran strap." I had to learn to call it that too.

I've NEVER worn a chain with a sporran...course...no formal occasions around these boonie parts. But if I did HAVE to wear a chain on a sporran I'd only do it when I had to and would return to my leather sporran straps immediately. Paid to much for them kilts to damage them with chains.
