    Ole Brass Doorknob Cane

I may have got the idea from somewhere else,.,...I just can't recall where from, but anyway, I bought some old timey doorknobs from an antique shop and started putting them on wood as cane toppers.
Here is the first, unknown hardwood, 36 1/2 inches tall, and I carved knotwork into 23 inches of the shaft. I think I might try a couple more of these in the future.....along with the other billion ideas in my noggin.

It can be used for standing around in the woods....

...or you can take a whack at annoying insects...

    Thanks for looking.

I kind of remembered back when I was a kid and our home ( when I lived in Northern Michigan) had old style brass knobs and handles, and this one does feel good and cool in your hand.

Now that is an awesome piece. I especially like the recycling of parts designed for another purpose. The carving spiraling down the shaft is pretty phenomenal as well.

My girlfriend hates seeing this kind of thing. It's more justification for me to keep acquiring/hoarding random trinkets I find!

Very nice! I may have to start looking for the "ingredients" to make one or two of those myself.

Interesting that you have an Argyll & Sutherland cap badge on your sporran -- did you serve in the Argylls?

    Kilted Carver's 3 Step Process...
    1. Carve something awesome.
    2. Take some pictures.
    3. Take a picture doing something the with object that it wasn't intended for. (air guitar, swinging like a golf club...)

Pretty tight, I used the attached hardware and JB Weld.
The Argyll and Sutherland badge was given to me by my grandma, through her side I am Clan Lamont and according to her some of our kin was in before coming here, My mother is working on the geneology. I served in the U.S. Army ( RTO in an Airborne Infantry Batt.)
    Thanks for asking.
