New waist coat, bow tie, and way to wear a watch chain

I noticed that Target had a clearance on some of their vests.

I picked up a dark brown corduroy one with an olive satin back for under $5.

Obviously Nick and pdcorlis have been an influence It has been a while since I wore my bow tie so please excuse me if it is a bit askew.

Notice how I am wearing my pocket watch and it's chain.

My wife gave me a small metal key ring with a picture locket on it some time ago.

I had a bit of inspiration from the recent pocket watch thread and decided to use it with a simple chrome chain for a different look.

I have to note that the waist coat hasn't been converted yet. I simply unbuttoned the last button and folded it into place (though it stayed there nicely for a last New Year's party we went to today.

Perhaps I can get the F-H.C.A.G. to do a photo DIY thread before the XMTS fabric arrives and she starts work on kilts!

    Cheers

Sounds sharp, Panache. Pocket watches are really nice. Bow ties can be too.

Good luck with a conversion. Ever consider something on the line of a cravat for daywear?

    Ted,

So you get the difference in this pocket watch chain, the pocket watch is attached to a chrome chain that at the other end is attached to a chrome locket that opens like a book to show two small (1 inch by 1 1/2 inch) photos.

One is of my daughter and the other my son.

The locket goes in one pocket and the watch goes into the other opposite.

The chain doesn't need to go through a hole in the waist coat at all.

    Cheers

That's a neat idea to use a locket as a fob. I like that ; it's kind of classy.
Mine is usually a pocket knife. A USB drive in a silver locket-like case maybe...

There is no T-bar on my chain, and it seems like putting it through the buttonhole always causes problems etc. Sounds good, and thanks for describing it.

    * It seems like I remember people putting pictures in the lids of their watches too, but I don't remember how that works. *

Jamie - Once more you live up to the Merriam-Webster definition of Panache - dash or flamboyance in style and action.

Very, very sharp. And I love that little locket. Goes great with the watch.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to tie your tie any better than you have. Why should life imitate fake bow ties? It looks fine the way it is.

Aye, a "perfect" tie is the very blatant sign of a pre-tied tie!

Jamie, you look so smart! I love that tartan, and I agree... the waistcoat and bow tie suit you, and I really like the photo locket as a watch fob.

Well done Jamie! Of course I more than approve of the bow tie. One of the things I love about the bow tie is the unique character each assumes from the tying style of the owner. The watch chain attached to the photo locket is brilliant as well!

Unfortunately style will have to wait on this end as we are still tackling the 100 + inches that have fallen (and continues to fall) since December 18th!
