Looking very sharp. You'll make your lady very happy. One minor thing, make sure to put both tabs of your flashes to the outside of your leg. The two pieces should sit next to each other, not seperated between outside and inside of the leg. Might also move your kilt pin a little to closer to the fringed edge of the apron, the height looks about right to me though.

Both tartan tabs on the flashes go on the outside? Right next to each other?

I was totally guessing on the kilt pin placement! How far from the fringed edge should it be? And is it ok to leave it on all the time or should I remove it when I hang up the kilt?

You have a fine-looking outfit and I hope your special day is just that! As for specifics, you may want to check the forum thread on "show us your formal pictures" for flash placement and such. Both flashes do go on the outside, next to each other, and slightly forward (a few fingers width "outside" of shin bone) rather than dead center side seam. They originated as the ends of garters tied 'round the calf, so that's why both ends are there.

As for pin, many people leave the pin on the kilt (and have one for each kilt, perfectly matched to or associated with that tartan). I rather prefer to see them taken off for storage but it is more personal preference than a hard rule.

Check the chain on your sporran belt carefully -- some have little rough edges that can chafe/damage the tartan beneath. If you feel any edges, think about using some other belt to avoid damaging the kilt. But if, for example, the chain can be dragged across a woman's stocking without catching or snagging, then it shouldn't hurt the tartan.

    Have fun and best wishes!

here is the link to formal kilted pix -- it's a monster thread but lots of good advice and examples.

This is a recent picture of me at our Burn's evening. Hope this helps. I generally place the back edge of the flash to the "3:00" position (right leg, 9:00 left leg) and let the forward edge of the flash be somewhere around 1:30 or so. My kilt pin usually goes about 2" to 3" in from the edge of the apron.

Looks good, and yes the flashes do both go on the outside, as to the kilt pin, it is fine to leave it on the kilt. There was a thread started recently regarding the placement of the kilt pin, here as well you could look at the Formal wear thread for pin placement here.

By the way, congratulations on the upcoming marriage.

Looking very smart and even more so once you have corrected the siting of the flashes.
