SWK Wool Kilts - Advice
I would like to direct this to those that have purchased a 100 percent wool kilt from SWK, but would welcome advice from anyone. I have been watching them for a while, but I have only seen a few choices in the wool ones that they carry. However, I just noticed today that they added the Black Stewart. I would just like to know what all of you think of the quality of their wool kilts. Maybe it is best and wait to have one custom to my measurements. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I love my Saffron shadow tartan. For $120 to get a heavy wool kilt is great. They are off the peg kilts so they won't fit as perfectly on some body shapes but on my average frame it fits as close to perfect as I need at that price point. I'm between 5'10" and 6' and the 24" length fits fine. They have lots of pleats so you get the swish factor going.
I could go on and on about the pros of the HW Kilts but to summarize, if you like the solids or the couple of tartans Jerry offers, get one. You won't regret that purchase.

I second Cavascout. I love my 2 heavies. My nightsatlker is really heavy. My saffron shadow tartan is is fairly heavy. They are well worth the price. I saw the Black Stewart tonight, as well. If I had the money- I just bought 2 custom made kilts- I would snatch that up in a heartbeat. I say get one!

I wouldn't really think of the SWK wool in the same way as a traditional type constructed kilt. It is possible to make alterations in the kilt, though.
If you want a custom fit, you will either have to tinker with the SWK, or just save up for the traditional.
That being said, it does seem like a good deal even if you were just buying eight yards of wool.

These are not strome wool. Strome wool is a 16 oz twill weave. Jerry's are about 13 oz wool, but the wool is not the same high quality weave you would get, say, from Locharron. That said, I have a Black Watch and a Saffron wool kilt from SWK. Excellent quality for the price.

I have both an Irish Saffron and a Black Watch and I like them both. I'm thinking about the Black Stewart.

I'm not positive, but I would estimate they are 7-8 yards. It may depend some on the size I would think.

Jerry is out of stock in alot of my size in kilts. DO you think this is due to the Saint Patricks Day rush?
