To me they look a bit grim-- rather like the wallet my uncle made at camp one year (under the watchful eye of the guards).

They remind me of kits that Tandy Leather might sell.

    Sporrans

They are laced with the "whip stitch", that is ok for holding two pieces of leather together that will not have much stress on them or to finish a raw edge, but, it allows small items to slip through, or should the lace break it will open up if there is any weight on it. I've been doing leather work as a hobby for a number of years and have made many a pouch and belt bag, I wouldn't use the whip stitch except as a decorative stitch on a flap or to finish a raw edge. I wouldn't put too much weight in any of the sporrans shown, small stuff, maybe, but not too small. Just my $0.02 worth as a leather worker. Others milage may vary.

    Cheers,

    Brian

    Sporran Kits

I have a feeling that if Tandy/Leatherfactory ever offered something that looked like that, the stitching would be saddle stitching with the option of the whip stitch as a decorative stitch only to finish off the raw edge, not to hold the sporran together.

    Cheers,

    Brian

They have been featured on X-Marks before. I can't remember the screen name of the maker. IIRC, the front and back panels are overlapped and glued to the gusset and then whip stitched with lace. Not my taste in sporrans, but seems to appeal to some.
