Leather work
Been debating on posting this...it has nothing to do with kilts, or pretty much anything Scottish...unless maybe you could use one of the hot sauce holsters to help get your haggis down a little easier. (I know!...please forgive the sacrilege!)
Just thought I'd share some leather stuff I've been working on. I'm not nearly up to tackling a sporran of the quality you've seen from Wyvern yet, but that's the goal. In the mean time, I'm learning all I can with this other stuff.
Constructive critiques are always welcome.

Very nice looking leather work. Don't let fear hold back your creative ability.

Nice stuff
I'd say you are ready for sporrans. All you need do is scale up the cell phone holder and make a few changes. Thanks for posting the link.

When I saw the longhorn cell phone holder, I immediately thought of UT.
Replace with a gamecock/tiger paw, you've got yourself a nice little side business selling to alumni, I'd say
Looks nice

Thanks, guys. The holsters, both cell phone and hot sauce are totally customizable. I can put most anything on there, as long as it fits and can be carved in the small space there. Currently, I'm working on a black one with a flame job airbrushed on to appeal to the biker crowd.
I'm gonna tackle a sporran someday...just want to take my time and be sure to get it right.

Very nice work and sporran's should be right up your alley.

As a lover of things 'bear' I'm drawn to the magnificent paw on the funky food survival kit. I sure wouldn't mind having that design on a casual sporran!

I've been practicing making Bear paw designs in relief on clay tiles so that I can have a paw cantle cast. If I were able to do the tooling and stamping on leather, I would defenatly put Bear paws embossed on a leather sporran.
I do hope to some day have a paw motif cantle on a bear fur sporran.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

The bear paw tooling started with a stencil from a Tandy Leather store. There are several paw sizes, front and back paws, and even a growling head on the stencil. I don't know if that'll help with your clay work, but it might give you a consistent starting point, at least. If this link works, check it out here:

PM me, and I'll hook you up with my local Tandy store, here in Columbia, SC, and they'll ship to ya. (a little shameless plug, I know, but my wife works there!)
The bear-paw sporran isn't a bad idea at all...might have to try that. I'm currently busy with other leather projects at the moment, but some day I'm going to make some sporrans, for sure....mainly 'cause I'll need one or two myself!
But, I'm also not interested in hijacking business from the other very talented sporran makers on here....for example, I'm sure the "other" Donnie on here would be more than happy to put a bear-paw on one of his beautiful sporrans for you if you asked nicely.. His sporrans are well beyond what I can do right now anyway.
Thanks,
Donnie K.
