    Ferguson Britt sporran strap

I've noticed these sporran straps in some of the pictures here and I like the simplicity and adjustability of them... But there's no way I can afford a Ferguson Britt Sporran anytime soon (which I assume comes with the strap?)

Does anyone know where I can just get the strap? Or a strap similar? I have no leather working expertise to make one (or tools for that matter) so that's out of the question for now as well.

    Thanks!

I suggest you talk to Steve (Cavscout) at Oconee Leather Works. From personal experience he does awesome work and he's a good guy to boot!

As I recall, Lamar (Furgeson Brit) offers the strap by itself. I would contact Matt at the museum for info.

BTW, I like the strap very much and have had a few compliments on it. Happy to have it.

I'll join the chorus of praise for Oconee. I wanted two straps, one black and one brown, to go with the dual-lidded Thorfinn sporran I had just ordered; Turpin sent me to Oconee. Steve handled my order swiftly and efficiently, and the straps - already in hand - are superb.

I made my own FB style strap out of brown scrap leather I had lying around just by copying the black strap of my Ferguson Britt sporran. It was extremely easy and took me 15-20 minutes to complete using only my sgian dubh. If you want I can post pics of my FB strap so you can see how they're made.

That'd be great! I don't have any materials laying around but there are a few leather places here that if all else fails, I can see if they can come up with something similar. Thanks!

I'll try to get some good detail pics up in the next few days.

Yes, we can sell the strap seperately (though I can't recall the price of the top of my head, it's comparable with other all-leather sporran straps).

The thing to watch for, though, is that these are made specifically to fit a Ferguson Britt sporran, and they are a bit wider than your average sporran strap. If I recall correctly, they are 1" wide, as opposed to the more usual 3/4".

So they won't necessarily fit through the loop in the back of all sporrans. Make sure your sporran will accommodate a 1" wide strap before ordering.
