    Assembled Rabble:
How do you feel about tartan neck ties? More specifically, how do you feel about your esteemed self wearing one of them?

I never wear a tartan tie with the kilt. However, I often wear a tartan tie (Macmillan dress) with a three piece tweed suit.

I never wear one with a kilt, however when I'm in a suit they are great.
However...many are made too short and too narrow.

I can't imagine ever wearing one with a kilt, but think they look nice with a tweed suit or sportcoat.

My MacPherson tie was my first bit of tartan and I proudly wear it whenever I have to wear a suit.

    I like tartan ties.

However if I wear one with a kilt then I wear a waistcoat to break up having the two right next to each other.

    Cheers

That's my thought, also. Or I'll wear two variants of the same tartan- MacLoed dress kilt and MacLoed hunting tie, for example. Also, I really like wearing tartan accessories with solid kilts. I wear MacLeod dress tie and flashes with my green Flamingo kilt.

With my kilts, I wear solid color ties that pull out a color in the kilt. I try (if possible) to match the tie to my hose as it 'balances' the outfit top to bottom.
I do the same thing some times- forest green hose and tie really make the Colorado state tartan pop.

I think they can look pretty good with a kilt on occasion and certainly look well with a suit.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
