    Hello from Oregon

I have been doing a family history search and found out that I am part Scottish on my fathers side. Our last name is Whyte, and that means our family was associated with the Lamont clan. My first kilt is being made for me right now and should be done next week. It is a black canvas casual kilt, but the next one will be a Traditional kilt in the Lamont modern tartan.

One question, My wife being Scottish, can I wear her families tartan? Thanks Gents.

...from the far nw corner of Washington state!

& to answer your question: YES of course!
There really are no rules to what tartan you can or cannot wear (beyond restricted tartans). Wear what you like & rock it with pride

Welcome from BFE from a Whidbey Islander who stuck himself in the Nebraska Sandhills for some unknown reason. Great folks here on XMTS and more good info than you will ever need.

    Hello Oregon_Lamont,

Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.

You may wear whatever tartan you desire - there are no Kilt Police in Oregon. Personally, I always find a connection to the tartan. Being married to it must be the best connection in the world!

    Regards

    Chas
