    RIP Bill Millin

Just saw on a friend's facebook news feed that Bill Millin, Lord Lovat's piper on Normandy, has passed to that country from where no traveller returns.

    Lest we forget.

Ironically, we recently lost another hero, Richard Todd, who was relieved by Millin and Lovat at Pegasus Bridge.

I'll raise many a glass. Anyone with the cojones to pipe whilst being shot at by 1/3 of the German army deserves several rounds of toasts.

Previous generations were made of tougher stuff.

Pipe on, Mad Piper. We're all listening.

Raising a glass of good Highland malt to his memory right now. And another glass in thanks that my dad, who did his part in the other theater on Saipan and Iwo Jima, is still here to talk with.

A glass to this brave, mad Scot. He is the big man's personal piper now.
