Need some quick advice on a sporran
Last year I bought a really nice sporran... It has quickly become my favourite.
See here:
Well anyway, it looks like I just found its brother..... I've been considering buying it... I'm not sure about the colour though. (It's grey, in case it doesn't show up well on your monitor)... Any feedback would be appreciated. (E.g. Would you buy this? Yea/Nay... If yes, then what would you wear it with?) etc...
I have to decide on this soon...
Cheers,
Jim

I'd buy it, then wear it with whatever I felt like.

Hallo CDN
Those are both made from Hamilton Dry Goods' Sporran kit. It costs $19.95 on latest EBAy listing, and is really easy to make w/ minimal tools & leather working experience. Here is a link to current listing:

Thanks, Kenneth. That's good to know for the future. Actually, this particular one (in the picture) comes from the same shop where I bought my original one -- they're a tack & leather supply out of TN (I think). For the finished product, I'm actually paying $3 less than the price of the kit, but clearly the kit will allow you some latitude for customization in dying, styling and the satisfaction of having made it yourself...
I've made my decision and purchased it (even though I still think grey is a bit of an unusual color for a sporran). $17+ship is a good price and the one I already have looks good and wears well.

I'd go for it. Isn't that sporran known as the Rob Roy?

Funny I've looked at that sporran a few times and each time felt it was just too small. Looking at the pic of yours makes me think I was way off. when you get it be sure and post a pic of it. I may be buying the next one that buyer has listed, as yours looks great for my next day wear go to option.

At $3 less than the raw components, you are indeed getting a good price for the finished product

I wouldn't worry about grey at all. I'm doing one up in grey shearling right now!
