Scotch Whiskies to Avoid!
Despite being a positive sort, I think it only appropriate to those that want to spend their money wisely to assist by posting whiskies that fail to make the grade, IMHO. Here are two that make me gag:
- Tomintoul - a nice first impression that leaves you with a bitter after taste and scrunched up face;
- Arran - same story.
Do you have a scotch to warn against?

I shall be shot for saying it, but avoid Ben Nevis at all costs.

Auchentoshan Classic. Some of their other offerings may be better, but I recall trying this one a few years ago and deciding that if this is typical of Lowland malts I want no part of them.

Now "Auchentoshan" I like. In all it's guises. Funny ol' world in'it.

Not desperately keen on this "Aberlour 10". It's not 'orrible it's just not the first bottle in mee trolley.

I had a "Dalwhinnie 15" once that I found a bit fierce and that makes me hesitate... at the till at least.

This "English Whisky Co. Chapter 6" is quite a favorite of mine though not to everyone's taste apparently. Worth giving it a try though eh?

My son was making his way through my collection at a horrifying rate, so I gave him my bottle of Old Pultney (now gone too). It was OK, but reminded me of fuel oil, which I normally avoid.

I knew I liked your style.
If I'm drinking Lowland, I love Auchentoshan. There's a nice, light honey finish to it (at least to my taste buds). It's a very nice occasional deviation from the very heavy Islay malts.

For me it has to be Glenfiddich. It got really drunk on it in Edinbugh when I was young, was violently sick, and have never liked it since.
The Kilt is my delight !

Yeah, I have to agree there, Jock. I had been told it was wonderful and bought a small bottle of it to celebrate after I climbed Ben Nevis a couple of years ago. I drank like 2 glasses and gave the rest away to an insane friend who mixes his Whisky with coke. (Yes, his Whisky, not bourbon.)
