New Kilt on the way and need advice.

So, I've ordered one of the black tartan kilts (The ones that you can only really see the tartan pattern in the right light) and I'm pondering what should be done in the way of kilt hose. This will just be worn for casual occasions as I have a 16oz 8yard Galbraith tartan kilt that I wear for more formal things.

Suggestions for flash and hose colours would be appreciated.

Anything, really. Though I might avoid bright white.

I think charcoal would look good for hose with that kilt.

I don't quite understand??? Is the tartan a black on black pattern, or are the other colors so dark that they only show in the bright sunlight?

If it is black on black, then spice it up with a splash of color...maybe red or lovat green hose, and black flashes to tie it together.

If it is a dark color on black, then maybe choose a hose color that is the same but lighter...If it is a really dark green in the tartan, then go with a lighter green hose.

Match the color to whatever shirt you are wearing.

Thanks, it is in fact that tartan cavscout. I'm hoping that it has an interesting effect, we'll see! (I'll report in here!) I think I'll just order a whack of different colour kilthose and see how things turn out.

I have a similar kilt, only in Black Isle, which has an extremely dark grey tartan pattern on the black instead of the true black on black shadoow texture tartan of yours. Black works great, charcoal too (I have both in bobble top pipers hose), even lighter shades of grey, or matching your shirt and hose or jacket and hose or tie and hose in certain combinations might work.

But as a monochrome kind of guy I stick to the black and charcoal when I wear it, and try to pick up some color in the flashes that goes with whatever top I am wearing.

1-to the left side of my belt is a belt pouch designed to fit a kilt width belt, comes in two sizes and sold by several different vendors. Wear it because I got tired of looking in the bottom of my sporran for keys, change, etc. that I prefer to keep handier, while my sporran is usually stuffed with two cell phones (don't ask) and a pager and contact lens drops and medication holder, small camera, etc... (I think you get the picture). I also wear it in lieu of a sporran while golfing, to hold tees, extra balls, ball markers, cash for buying drinks, etc.. The sporran goes into the golf bag for the round.

2-Suspenders were a quick but effective fix for a kilt just a smidge too big for a gut a lot too big. I usually only wore them, and occasionally still do with certain kilts, under a sweater or jacket. I had taken off my sweatshirt because it was too warm that afternoon. Having a waist and hips that are similar in measurement makes it tough to keep the kilt up otherwise. Thank goodness I have lost some weight since and regained at least some semblance of a waistline again.
