Question on Kilt Pins

I have one of these I have used as a kilt pin, which I'm kind of sick of:

So, I was wondering if this would work as a kilt pin instead:

Not sure if it would look odd, since it's round. Thanks!

If you're trying to avoid looking odd, kilts may be contraindicated.

As far as the pin issue, it'll look great. We recently had a thread on
this. Search penannular and kilt pin. Started by Alan H. Also some
wear multiple pins, some wear found objects, some do pretty much
anything they choose. Our ancestors were wildly and sometimes even
inappropriately individual in their approach to wardrobe. It's unlikely
you'll outdo them, or even embarrass them.

I won't speak for the rest of the Rabble, but I see nothing wrong with it. My favorite pins are not traditional at all but mean a lot to me...my "crow" collar device from my navy days, an interesting pin I picked up in a museum gift shop, a medicine wheel, and one that I made featuring a pic of my son for our wedding.

Wear a smiley face button it you want. It's YOUR kilt and YOUR pin.

There are lots of us here who choose different kilt pins, in fact I don't possess a "sword" type at all here are two of mine

I think that the sword pilt pin has been 'done to death'. It is another hang over from the rental industry, like white hose. We are bound to see more swords than anything else, so in people's minds it becomes the way to go.

We have some members who change their kiltpins in line with their latest 'cause'. It has replaced the lapel badge for kiltwearers. Just one example, on this last Armistice Day, I wore a poppy kilt pin.

I think your round kiltpin says more about you than any number of cookey cutter swords could.

That pin would be fine as a kilt pin.

I made myself a couple of kilt pins, and recently have been experimenting with a technic that bonds powdered metal to clay.

The result is a nice sized pin (2.5 inches diameter) that is durable, looks like solid metal, but only weighs 1 ounce.

Pin assortment, copper on clay, 2.5 inches diameter

I plan to take some of these pins to the Scottish Tartans Museum and Gift Shop in Franklin NC and see if Matt and Roanan want to offer them for sale.
