    My custom tartan...

So as some of the rabble here may remember, I'm getting married in a few months, and the future missus and I thought it would be fun to start things off by creating our own tartan for the new branch of the family line we'll be starting.

She did most of the work, as I am severely color blind, so here's what we've come up with.

The colors themselves don't actually have a deep meaning. The green is loosely to give homage to my Marine Corps and MacDonald of the Isles heritage. Other than that, Sue, my future wife, picked the rest.

Opinions? Advice? Criticisms? All are welcome, as we'd like to start things off with a GOOD tartan before we order kilts and plaids and sashes and things.

    Thumbs up

    WOW!
I really like the colours chosen & the relative simplicity of the design.
It's very nicely done & I can't wait to see the actual tartan / kilt!

The green and purple are very "royal" looking, the red pops off the page, and the bold white stripe is, well, bold. I like it.

Now I really like this, very WoB-ish. Make sure that you specify ecru for the white otherwise you'll get the standard bleached white which would spoil the overall effect.

Thanks! We'll make sure to specifically mention the white, as we did try pure white, and totally agree with you, it spoiled the look.

That green looks a little Army green to me dude. In all seriousness it looks pretty darn good.

A nice traditional yet simple tartan design, and in a very attractive earthy color scheme. Well done!
