Breek pattern?

I am a sock knitter. I knit by hand and by antique circular sock machines from around 1910-1920. And yes, I am proud and a bit of a show off when it comes to my socks.

I have been looking for a breek sewing pattern for some time. The kind that goes with a shooting suit. But, I seem to only find historic patterns from around the 15:th & 16:th centuries. Not the "modern" kind.

Could any one point me in the right direction to a sewing pattern similar to these?

The wool hose used for kilts are pretty much inter-changeable. Plain tops for the buckle and strap fittings on the breeks( plus 2's, plus 4's) as they fit over the tops of the hose and if you wish patterned tops for breeks with the elasticated breek fitting where the hose top go over the elastic. For ideas have a look at "John Norris" or "William Powell" or "thealmostunwearoutablesockcompany" websites or just look at the better wool kilt hose patterns.

I might suggest searching for knickerbocker patterns. Or plus-two or plus-four pants patterns.

That might give a better starting point for your research, hope it helps! (welcome to X Marks btw!) perhaps try golf pants?

Oooops, I am so sorry I misunderstood!

I am no tailor, but there are many different styles of "breeks" some "cut" very tight like the pair in your picture to the "plus 4" type that are extremely baggy in comparison but allow considerably more freedom of movement. I don't know if tailors discuss their trade secrets but try "Haggarts of Aberfeldy" and they MIGHT discuss the patterns with you.

Found an 1890's reference for making made to measure breeches:

Perhaps a variation on those might be more suited to your needs?
