Hello from Chicago
My name is Mike Kinney and I live just outside of Chicago. I started making and wearing kilts as part of being a reenactor. My ultimate uniform is the 78th highlanders, The Ross Shire Buffs who fought under Wellington. The 78th kit is all hand sewn and made from the most accurate patterns and reproduction materials. I am working with Peter MacDonald to have my new cloth for the 1806 78th kilt. My first kilt was a MacArthur for the 12ILL 1st Scots Regt. formed from the Chicago Highland Guard at the start of the Civil War. Working on a Jacobite and French and Indian kit for next year.
I am looking to increase my Kilt making skills and knowledge and also put together a kilt look for modern use.
My wife and I perform 18th and 19th century mostly Scottish music on fiddle, cittern, percussion and song. So between that and practicing my archery, swordfighting, and musket skills I am living the highlander life

Welcome.
A warm Scottish welcome from middle England. So what do you do in your free time?
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
