I did wish I had my kilt in Belize

So I just posted a new thread asking for differnet suggestions on washing my USA casual kilt which has been packed up for a while because I was in Belize on an Archaeological project for a month.
I then said I was glad I didn't take it seeing the shape some of my other clothes came back in but that's not completely true.

I did wish I had it with me when I was having to walk around like John Wayne for various reasons, one of which was chafing due to pants.
The other is because I got a bot fly on the inside of my leg and if my pants or something tuched the wound it caused immense pain for a couple of days.

On those days I was really wanting my kilt so I didn't have to worry so much about pant legs scraping raw skin.

Anyways, should i have taken it? and if I go back should I take it then, or not risk it?
And does anyone else have a story of kilts in tropical areas?

Ugh. I hate bot flies. Only cure me had available was mud, squeeze and antiseptic on the leftover hole. Nothing like watching a maggot come popping out of your skin.

I have worn a kilt in the Caribbean, which might have a similar climate. It felt great. It either freaked or enchanted the locals.

Thank goodness, though, that we don't have bot flies there.

Vacationed just north of Belieze in Quintana Roo last year. Took a bunch of USA Casuals. Flew down and back in them, wore nothing but kilts the whole time. VERY comfy in the hot humid weather. They did well in the wind too.

When in the tourist shopping areas the locals would hollar out, "Hey William Wallace!!" but politely and in an effort to get me over to see their wares.

Have also worn my USA casuals in the humidity and heat of Maui. They are the perfect antidote.

Leave your pants home next trip.
