Do You Like Earth Tones?

You know, like those in the Arizona tartan, some of the weathered and hunting tartans, etc.?

I do. And with cold weather just around the bend, I just ordered something for casual and outdoor wear which I think will go well with my Maple Leaf and Douglas Weathered kilts in particular. I've never owned a cardigan-type sweater, they've all been pullovers. But I like the beefy look, short waist, and coloring of this one:

the style and color look great and will enhance a kilt in a very casual setting.

I like the earth tones myself and tend to wear a lot of browns for daily wear, whether kilted or not.

Me too. Wearing a kilt has been my first foray away from earth tones in decades. Still hoping to save up for a weathered tartan kilt someday, though, to have an earth tone kilt option.

Yes earth tones for me. I was worried about the brightness of the red in my hand sewn kilt using the German Heritage tartan but it is actually very rich in colour so I dont mind the red. The German Heritage is actually a beautiful tartan, internet photos dont do it justice. Otherwise it is shades of blues, browns, grays and other earth tones. Below is my Stillwater casual in Weathered MacKenzie. It goes well with most subdued colours.

As I said with regard to Dale's very nice new kilt in maple red tartan, I very much use earth tones as the preferred basis for the clothes I wear. It was not always thus, but something I became more conscious of around the ages of 35-40. In terms of kilts, My Hunting Ross Ancient has two tones of green, with black and dark red which I generally wear while my Red Ross is a bit more bright. My preferred kilt jacket and accessories are day wear (with both) including my Tweed Argyle which is lovat green with brown flecks. I generally prefer various shades of green or oatmeal hose, brown belt, brown sporran, and black or brown shoes. I also have a dark green PC and a dress sporran for formal evening wear. In terms of non kilt wear, I have lots of browns, greens, russets for smart casual wear (tweed and corduroy Sports Jackets, corduroy and tweed trousers, sweaters etc.)

Yes, I like earth tones. I like blue with them. Hope the cardigan works out well for you.

I have often paired my olive green Wooly Pully Marine uniform sweater with my Leatherneck Tartan. Like your NatGeo sweater, the patches add a nice touch.

I do like Earth-tones very much. Especially around this time of year (talking Northern Hemisphere).

Of course, I love tweed because of this very reason, and while I love the soft colours in my "Gunn ancient" kilt, I have always wanted a weathered one too. Because of the Earthy colours.

What I have actually found, and was somewhat surprised by, is the fact that weathered, Earth-tone kilts actually make a very nice contrast with black and white, hence why I've gone for this (more or less- a few things will change) for my wedding outfit:





Sorry the pics themselves are not the best- very difficult to do on my own, with no tripod. Anyway, I think it's possible to see what I mean...

I was thinking about modern colours originally (thinking that the weathered would be really only suitable for daywear)- and that it would be more striking- for this particular occasion, but I'm very pleased that I went with the weathered!
