    Bison Hose

Does anyone know where one could find a fairly plain pair of bison colored hose?

I think I remember that House of Cheviot has some bison options. If you go to their website and download the Highland Wear catalog, you might have some luck.

You are correct sir! I have two pair from House of Cheviot, one in the Lewis hose and one in their patterned top "Bison Tweedy" They seem to change offerings from year to year so I'm not sure what they currently offer. Although Chris at Dunadd Trading company (banner at the bottom of the page) doesn't list standard hose offerings, he can get anything currently in production. I would send him a message and see what he can do.

    Best of luck!

    Re: Bison Hose

Bison colour is currently available in the Orkney range of hose and the Border Check

Any outfitter should be able to get either of the above for you. If you want a dozen pairs or more House of Cheviot should be able to do them as a special order

    Re: Bison Hose

I'm assuming that "Bison" is a sort of brown colour?

If so I wonder if any of these would fill the bill:

    http://www.harristweedandknitwear.co...seandSocks.htm

I know that they don't look very exciting from the pictures and they don't have snappy names (like "Bison"!) but I really cannot recommend these hose highly enough... in fact I've been meaning to do a review along with pictures for some time and I'll try to get round to it.

Anyway they are all hand knit, from beautiful Harris wool, are warm, rugged and beautifully designed (they are shaped for each foot, reinforced at the heel, knitted plainly on the foot (so that they fit in your shoe) have inbuilt ribbing on the calf so that they fit exactly, have a tighter knit around the top of your calf to help them be held up and a generous overturn)... and they are hand knit by islanders from Harris wool spun and dyed in the Western Isles so you are helping to support an island economy.

I couldn't quite work out how to order from the website but I just emailed them and they sent a paypal invoice. They were very friendly and very fast.

I will just at a quick rider to say that I don't own any House of Cheviot hose so I wouldn't know how they compare.

What are you talking about?! KH6? That sounds wicked fast!
Those hose look great. I will probably order some before you post a review, but please do, anyway. Love the colors!

Was that the brown that was discontinued - the darker one?

    Re: Bison Hose

Currently in the 2012 Highland range from House of Cheviot, the only hose styles they are offering in the bison color are Orkney and Border Check, both of which are very nice.

I am thinking seriously about having them do special runs for me in bison in the inexpensive Glenmore style, and making those available to retailers here in North America. So keep an eye out for that.

Do let me know if/when this happens. That is the style that appeals most to me in my price range.

I'm happy to confirm that I am having House of Cheviot make a run of Glenmore hose in Bison (as well as a few other colors) which I will be stocking and making available to North American retailers.

It will likely be several weeks before they are ready to ship out, but very soon you will be able to order Bison Glenmore hose from your favorite House of Cheviot retailer.
