Ardenwood Farm tartan day 4/14
Will anyone from the San Francisico bay area be going to this event? This will be my first event as an xmarker. I would like to meet up with other xmarkers that day.

Unless I leave a little earlier than usual for annual "spring training" in Japan, I'll be there.

I'm not in the Bay Area Sailortats, but will be coming down for it. It will be my first time attending there as well, and am looking forward to it. As a first timer, I'm not sure of the lay out so will leave the meet and greet plan to those in the know. I look forward to seeing you there.
Regards,
Brooke

With luck I will be dancing, if not I will be cheering on The Red Thistle Dancers there.
Cheers

Planning for this is coming along well. The music stage, which saw a major upgrade last year, is coming up a notch again with the addition of the band "Sligo Rags". The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers are coming, too...
Main stage
10:05-10:45- Chris Caswell
11:00-11:30- Opening Ceremony
11:30-12:15- Sligo Rags
12:30-1:15- Pladdohg
1:30-2:15- SF Scottish Fiddlers
2:30-3:15- Pladdohg
3:30-4:30-Sligo Rags
4:40-5:00- Closing Ceremony
Dancing stage
10:05-10:45- World Scottish Dancers
11:30-12:15- SF Scottish Fiddlers
12:30-1:15- Red Thistle Dancers
1:30-2:15- Chris Caswell
2:30-3:15- World Scottish Dancers
3:30-4:30-Red Thistle Dancers
I know the Childrens Glen for the wee lads and lasses is still "on". The Re-enactors have invited a couple more Guilds, so that should be busy. We have a clan chairman this year, rather than sort of leaving "Clans" to catch or catch-can, so hopefully clan tent numbers will be up. I have a solid turnout of 20+ athletes for the Heavy Athletics including the IHGF Womens Amateur World Champion, Kristina Sisseck, and the man who holds the world record in the Open Stone. That's John Davis.... also the former USA record holder in the shot put-indoors. He'll be challenged by ex-Cardinal shot-putter Mike Macellari, who has been tearing it up this winter in the local track meets, so you'll see some serious stone putting going on. I expect lots of throws at 50 feet-plus. This winter I have made a new Caber..."The Argyll"... at almost 17 feet and 135 pounds, it's going to be a serious challenge for our Big Guys.
Two pipe bands are coming, solo piping and duets pipes/snare will be judged. I believe the falconry people will be there again...and hopefully some more vendors, though I'm kind of not up on that one, as I had to miss the last meeting.
And finally...the Beer Garden is back!! And of course, if you get tired of tartan, there's the whole Ardenwood Historical Farm to visit, with a working blacksmith, and weaving/spinning demonstrations, too. With luck...there will be new lambs!
If you have little kids in the family, this is a GREAT EVENT for kids. It's big enough to keep them busy for hours, with lots of places to rest. However, it's not so big that it's totally overwhelming for them.....or for tired adults, either.
If the weather holds, we're hoping for 2700 - 3000 attendees, so come on out and support Tartan Day at Ardenwood!!

OK, it looks like a good place for the xmarkers to meet up would be the dance stage at 12:30-1:15 while the Red Thistle dancers are on. Panache may be dancing and Alan H. plans to be there watching. Looks like a good place to meet.
