Tartan Day at Ardenwood (Nor Cal)
Well, Tartan Day at Ardenwood was a good alternative to going down to Palm Springs to see Hamish and the assembled multitudes, so we made the best of it. I contacted the organizers and arranged to do a Heavy Athletics demonstration, which was a huge hit. We had Weight over the Bar, all the stones, the light weight for distance, and I brought along my dinky caber, which I can sort of get int he back of the truck...sort of. Anyway, all the kit got to the park, and here are some pics...

Jon and Alan showing how proper Scottish Traditional headgear should be worn..

This guys costume is da BOMB!

From left to right.... Bunchdescendents brother and wife (girlfriend?), Farlander from X Marks, some dumb tired guy in a hat, the wonderful Chris (Bunchdescendents wife), Bunchdescendent Himself, the Little Celtic Dancer (aka (Bunchdescent daughter) and a nice guy in Black Watch and I have no idea who he was!

These next pictures prove beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the way to attract the lasses is not to have a kilt, but rather to have a 12-foot long, 65 pound chunk of Douglas Fir!

I was afraid to mess up her gorgeous costume, but she WANTED to do it!

Jon Thorn tossing the 28'er!

We also met up with X Marker, demolay1310 and he shot a couple of pics, so perhaps we'll hear from him as well.
a **Great** day!

Alan,
Looks like the Nor Cal Rabble had fun (as they have a tendency to do )
I believe I have had the pleasure of meeting Bethany in line at Target in San Jose (of all places)
A very cool person
Cheers
Jamie

I sure wish I could have been in two places at once this past weekend, but I guess I'll just have to live with it. I definitely want to play with the caber again soon though Alan!
Be well,
Star

Looks like a good time. I was down in the Bay Area last week on business, and since a friend was involved in the organizing of Ardenwood Tartan Day, I was hoping to make it to the festivities. Unfortunately, we were still hammering out details on Saturday. Maybe next year.
Thanks for posting Alan.
