60 inches, tops. That allows for adjustment and a descent overlap.

Rory: I have a 41" "natural waist" and use sporran belts that are 47" - 49" in length. They leave plenty of room for adjustment. If you error, do so in the direction of "too long". At worst you can always cut it down. Good luck.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

My rule of thumb is to go about 4" larger than your natural waist, so that would be 50" in your case. But most all sporran belts I have ever seen have been adjustable several inches in either direction. So once you get in the ball park you can fine tune it to suit your size and shape.

    Yup, what they said.

When I'm making straps I use their KILTED waist size, add 4-5" for the 'drop' on the sporran strap (depending on the overall waist size), and then a tiny bit of overage for adjustability and the strap-end.

I'd enquire with the Scottish Tartans Museum to see if it's possible to order just a FB strap.
