Kilt Length - Above Knee or Mid-Knee?

I've come across a number of company sites including Scotweb that offer two options for kilt length and I'm curious to hear a range of opinions on this subject. Do you prefer above knee or mid-knee? What are your reasons for preferring one or the other? Is it just down to personal preference? Is one length more traditional than the other? Which do you think looks best?

I put mine on at the top of the kneecap because after a couple of hours it's mid-knee anyway.

Then I hitch it back up.

I (like the last ten comments) wear my kilt and hose like this photo.

The top of my kilt feels better when it is snug against the bottom of my ribs and the hem above my patella.

Just before this picture was taken, a convertible full of young ladies drove by and they shouted "Show some leg!" So we did.

Top of the knee, maybe a tad more depending on who made the cut.

I'm a top of the knee kind of guy, but I like to show off as much leg as possible... it's all I've got left to show for the hours I used to spend on the ice playing hockey.

Mine is at the top of the knee to not more than an inch above. My pub kilts tend to be higher than my better wool kilts. My best wool kilts tend to be right at the top of the knee. I find if any lower the hem of the kilt gets uncomfortable hitting the knee cap or back of the knee.
