Multi Marathon - 10th Anniversary of 9/11
If you should see a lone runner on the road from San Diego/Calif to New York, then give him a cheer and a wave. Achim Henkemes is German and a big fan of the US. He says that his way of celebrating the anniversary and to remember those who died is to carry out a Multi Marathon. He left New York on 6/25 on his bicycle to cycle an average of 250 kms per day until he reached San Diego. After a short rest he started on the return journey, this journey, however, was by foot. An average of 90 kms per day is his target and he hopes to be in New York on 9/11. His regular reports are on Twitter.

I don't use Twitter. Do you know what his plans are for arriving back here?
The Memorial site will be open only to families of the victims and First Responders that day.
