Re: Red-laced brogues/(p)review my attire...
The red hose look surprisingly good, far better than I would have expected. I think I prefer the grey though, but I can't see whether they are plain or an argyll pattern as the image is too dark for my eyes
Another option, if you have the cash to spare, is to get grey hose with a tartan cuff to match your kilt. Bonnie Tartan http://www.bonnietartan.com are a good place to source those
Other than that you are looking good to go, although I agree with your mum about "that hideous hairy thing"
I'm just not a hairy thing lover I'm afraid, but I do have to admit it does look good on you

I am a big fan of horsehair sporrans precisely because they are a bit over the top! My lass draws the line at full mask sporrans though, because then she feels bad for the poor wee beastie

You should be in a catalog.
The look came together really well, and I like every bit of it, even though I'm not a fan of horse-tail sporrans. I prefer the look of the red hose, but if they're too tight, then don't even attempt to wear them.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

You look smashing, Michael.
And if THAT sporran is getting sent to the bench, the one you're getting from Scott must be spectacular (not that I doubt that it would be).
You can put the horsehair one out to pasture here in Kentucky if you'd like.

Cheers,
Thanks!
Hopefully they don't become too popular... (kind of liking the exclusivity of THE CLUB)
Cheers,
Michael

Haha, Thanks!
Indeed the "grey" (sort of light brown and steely blue/grey) hose do have an Argyll/diced pattern, with a red criss-cross running through it.
Cheers!

Shucks! I don't know about the catalogue... but I certainly appreciate the compliment!
The thing I'm most worried about is them slipping down. They don't really seem to have a sufficient taper to accomodate my calves (which are not by any means large), and I worry that they might be "squeezed" down over the course of the evening. I doubt they would be much more uncomfortable than my band hose/flashes/brogues
Cheers!
Michael
