I heard a good quote for the definition of a Gentleman today.
A Gentleman is someone who is never rude unintentionally.

					Guys,
This topic has been hashed before with dismal results. XMarks is a big place with lots of members, each of whom probably has a particular definition of gentleman in their mind which they are unlikely to change...

It was meant as a joke, David, which is why it was posted in this forum. Similar to the one that goes "A gentleman is someone who knows how to play the bagpipes, but doesn't". I didn't really intend to open a discussion on the matter of Gentlemen which, as you so rightly say, has been "done to death" on these forums. Personally, I don't think that a gentleman would be intentionally rude, either.

It was a joke, Kyle. Maybe not a very good one but a joke non the less. It is posted in the 'Craig's corner: The Humorous side of kilts and XMTS' forum. There is no need to *** here. The subject of peoples ideas about gentlemen has been longly debated in the past and there's no need to rebash that idea. If I had known that this dead horse was again going to be beaten, I would never have posted it. It was intended as a humourous "aside".

Oh, God...please don't start with that "gentleman" thing again, guys...I'm sure that BCAC's intention was to just recount the joke and not to re-open that can of worms!
...but I thought that the definition of a gentleman was: someone who knows how to play the bagpipes but refrains from doing so.

This little forum is called Craig's Corner in honour of our late friend who often shared his humour with us. Mostly it was truly brilliant; sometimes it deserved nothing more than a groan. No matter, we all loved it -- and him for causing us to sometimes see the misunderstood but still funny side of life. BCAC, at your request we will close this thread.
