Another good one Artificer. The only other Ex MoD that I have seen converted to the lace on style is Peter MacDonalds

Thanks Downunder Kilt! There were some other very interesting things about this particular cantle that I wish I'd photographed when it was all stripped down.
It appeared to be completely assembled with soft solder rather than silver solder, arms to face, edge to rear body, and even the strap loops on the rear side.
The metal of the front face is about .5mm thicker than on mine (this may be in part because mine is a mk2 vs this mk4).
The strap loops are of a smaller diameter than anything I've seen previously ~2.7mm vs ~3.2mm.
I've seen a few with what appeared to be soft solder repairs, but until this one I don't know if I've seen any that were completely assembled this way.

Very nice, Scott! Pretty similar to mine, I must say (with some obvious differences)!

Scott, re the strange build on your lastest MoD. From your initial description that it was somewhat beat up, I surmise that it had perhaps been dismantled and resoldered at some stage in its life. As for the thicker brass plate, I don't know if the MoD only used one supplier or several, which could account for the varying thickness of the brass plate. As for the smaller strap loops, that one has me baffled as I have 6 of the cantles (MKl - MKlV) and all have the same size loops.

Having SIX of them is downright greedy!

Not bragging in any way but... Just for interest. This sweet ensemble of loveliness is mine. It's Artificer sporran No. 50 and the build and quality is all I hoped it would be. It's uniqueness appeals and I am a privileged chap to possess it.
Cheers Scot!!

Very nice, John (and Scot). I especially like the pockets inside.
