I would suggest that you take a look at the Show us your pics page there are both a formal thread and a dressy thread where members have posted pictures.
It might be a good place to start.
Here are the links:

Dressy

I would say if you are going dressy you can't go wrong with an Argile Jacket, semi dress or dress sporran, white dress shirt with french cuffs, cufflinks, and a tie, kilt hose, flashes, sgian dubh, and a kilt pin. You can most likely rent all of the above if you need to. Good luck with it and remember to post pics when you can.

That actually does give me some ideas for what I'm going to wear. With your pic in addition to checking out all of the pics from the members here, I have several directions that I can go in. Thank you and everyone else for your help.

But really, check out this pic for some ideas. I wore my SWK Irish National to a dinner party on the 30th and it was a standout among the crowd. It is worn with a black shirt, black tie, off white hose, black flashes, leather daywear sporran, antique grouse claw kilt pin. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately my fiancee and I reviewed our finances, and it looks like we will only be able to go to England for this trip. Still an excellent trip, but I was looking forward to seeing the Emerald Isle. I'm still getting all of the details together with a friend that lives in Daventry, so we may try to set aside some time to drive up to Scotland. I would love to go there, and it would be no where near the cost of going over to Ireland.

I drive to Coventry in June for my D-day landings event and can usually do the drive from here, close to the English Border, in around four and a half hours if I get a clear road.
