That's more typical of hand-sewn wool kilts. The kilts in question here are imported, acrylic, "off-the-peg" kilts. I think they can get a "custom" sized kilt for that time frame or something though...

Tell you what John, I'm betting that some day you have your favorite tartan sewn up into a hand sewn kilt by Kathy or Barb or Matt or someone skilled at the art and you'll feel sooooo much more pride for such an important kilt use.

    Ron,

I have a hand sewn kilt, it's a 16oz. 100% wool McQueen tank military pleated MONSTER.

It was made by a local kilt maker here in Largo Florida that has been making kilt for the Shrine since 1974, she was born in Scotland and raised in Canada before coming to the US in the '70s. But I refuse to wear it to a bar or out in this florida heat. I am very proud of that kilt. I hope in the future for another handmade kilt using the Morgan Modern Blue Tartan pleated on the stripe tank.

But right now with the socials I go to and as an every day kilt I like the quality and value of the Frugal Corner kilts. Not only that but I am trying to catch up with Hamish...

All that being said, I think that the grey rabbit sporran looks great (I am biased as I have ordered one myself) and agree that darker kilt hose would offset the white.

    Good luck.
    DTrain,

When I purchased that jacket at a uniform store for $5.00, I did not really think I was going to use it. But for $5.00 I said what the hell. Since I have wore it twice now. Now that I know I can use a White Jacket, I will look in to a PC converstion in white or maybe just add some buttons and dress that one up.

By the way just got home from the meeting, everyone loved it!!!

I found it, I found it...

At the Scottish Rite the Officers uniform is a Dinner Jacket.. Some have White, some have Ivory, some with Shawl collars, some with Norch Lapels.

So I just got off the MyOwnTuxedo.com website and I found 4 Jackets that will work for a PC converstion.

2 Fashion Collection, Ivory, Full Dress Tailcoat, both with Shawl collars one with 2 button and one with 6 buttons, both 52R $20.00 each.

1 Lord West, Winter White, Ivory, Full Dress Tailcoat, 2 button Shawl collar 52R $20.00

1 Perry Ellis, Ivory, Full Dress Tailcoat, 2 button Notch Lapel 52R $20.00

I think I like the 6 button best of all.

Now I just need to find someone to do the Converstion.

Sounds like it worked well for you. I, too, am interested in a PC conversion and have scoured myowntuxedo website but only find something in my size in navy. thinking about it, but then need navy vest and navy bow tie.

I'll bet the white PC will work and be a good look. Post some pics.

What I think he is getting at is the balance of the white shirt and white dinner jacket with the solid black pants. The reason that formal outfit works is the nice balance of dark and light. You are introducing not only the tartan but more white into the mix. I think black formal kilt hose might help with the balance. I would also change out the cumberbund for a dress belt.

Black hose, and lose the cumberbum. I treat cumberbums as saxon attire.

Great minds think alike!!!! I just got back from a day kilted in Ensenada Mexico. Had some great reactions! None negative! Getting ready for a fun-filled week-end in September for about 100 guys! I'm going kilted for the entire thing, again.

If you wear that white jacket with a plain black kilt, you'll look like a waitress. Stick with the tartan. Hose in a complimentary color would be good, but avoid black.

Good job on getting rid of the cummerbund. They don't go with kilts.

I think your rabbit sporran looks great. Good for you, going to all the trouble to make this work.

Just curious - Why do you say "avoid black" - ?
