    Laphroaig!!

I stopped by the local ABC store yesterday and saw that they now have Laphroaig!!

The clerk told me it was their first day to have it available and then asked what it was like. No one had ever heard of it and didn't know anything about it.

I also noticed they'd marked up the Balvenie 10 yr by a few bucks so it's about $1 less than the 12 yr double wood. I'm sure they'll have the others marked up soon enough.

The Balvenie (which is a favourite of mine) has been steadily on the increase here for some time. It used to be quite a bargain but now is nearly as expensive as the other single malts. The best bargain in my neck of the woods is the Tamdhu, which is still near the $40 mark. Very smooth, a little on the light side, but a bargain at that price.

I was glad to see them stock it, they don't have a very large selection. I asked about a couple of others single malts but the lady there said they only have certain ones available for the ABC stores.

Since I already had the Laphroaig at home, I went with the Balvenie Doublewood.

As much as I dislike computers they have helped in the search for good Single Malt. The manager at the local conglomerate Don &Ben's searched and gave me store addresses that have Cask Strength Laphroaig and Glenrothes. Congradulations on your local store starting to carry good whisky.
