I ordered it from the site but I had an email conversation with one of their representatives who was very helpful prior. I'm sure I can pass along his email but before I do, let me send him and email and make sure there is no problem. Depending on the answer I will either post the info or PM you.

Thank you, that would be very helpful. You can also let them know that I'm only purchasing it based on your good review here =P (heck, let them know about xmarks if they dont)

thanks for sharing!
That's one beautiful kilt! I fell in love with this particular tartan while visiting Skye, as I am sure many others have as well. Appreciate the info!

Bob, It is mostly a trick of the light. The kilt is definitely pleated to the sett but possibly not with the 100% accuracy that we are used to seeing in a hand-sewn from Barb T. or the like. Also the subtlety of the colours hides it a bit, particularly where the purple and rust cross.
If you compare the front and the back you can see the thin line creates the box as well as the wide black line. However, as you notice the black line looks much fainter vertically on the pleats than it does on the apron. It probably has to do with the flash and the way the light reflects off they pleats since they are not as flat as the apron. Even on the front the vertical lines look slightly fainter than the horizontal. If you look at the most lower right square on the pleats you can just make out the vertical rust lines in the sett.

Hope this helped.

I just received an email from Mr. Mark Hepworth at the Woollen Mill. He asked me to pass along his email to anyone who is interested, so please PM me if you would like the address.
He also informed me that the Woollen Mill has made the £10 ($20) Royal Mail shipping to the US a choice on the website. That means that including shipping one of their off-the-peg kilts goes for about $240. Not cheap, but when you consider the cost of Marton Mills fabric it's not too bad either.

I ordered mine, and now i'm looking forward to it. Just a heads up for anyone else considering ordering an IOS from woollen mill, they're basically sold out and are ordering more of the 13oz fabric from Marton Mills and getting more made, so the turnaround time might be a bit longer. They estimated 4 weeks before they'd be able to deliver for me, to which I replied that that's plenty fast =)

I have tried to find wollen mills on the internet as i am thinking about joining the IOS club. Can't find them anywhere. Is this a store or just a guy you all know that makes kilts? I assume a store since "off the rack" kilts are mentioned. Not criticizing anyone here, but when you do a review mayhaps a link to where ya bought it might be in order? Just to make it easier for us, not so in the know, type peoples? So if anyone has the link, if they do business under a different name, or just some general hints as to how to contact these people, please let me know.

After reading this review, I ordered this kilt. Delivery was delayed a bit since they ran out of fabric, but I'm happy to report that the wait was worth it. I'm very pleased with both the kilt and this company's good service. Try www.woollenmill.co.uk

Looks like a good value. A 6 yard kilt probably has more pleats for a skinny guy like me.
