Well, I have to admit that the suit looks pretty good.

There are quite a few different pinstripes, some in sharp contrast, like RockyR's suit, but others are closer in colour and tone so don't make the same statement.
I think the ones with a sharp contrast do need to be a kilt suit in order to look right, because they are so strongly patterned, and so traditionally a suiting material.
A kilt in a lighter colour with a pale stripe could be more casual and perhaps look right with a toning colour jersey, maybe if the stripes were not so closely spaced as the standard London suit fabrics.
Cavscout's photo of the bride and groom, where the grey jacket and kilt are set off very well by the dark waistcoat I think shows that good taste can be delightfully unpredictable.

Rocky, you did a great job with that kilt, and your jacket supplier did a wonderful job too. Like I said, not my cup of tea, but it's really well done. I think I like the high contrast pinstripe you chose more than the low contrast I've seen in others.
But, I have to ask... Where's your bowler and walking stick?

Looking good Rocky!
Just out curiosity, how much would that outfit run from you guys?

Rocky,
I love the kilt suit (though I would have gone with a white shirt.)
Well done!

Yeah but ...
Looks good on ya Rocky but I disagree on wearing it without the vest and jacket (which I do not own). I get rave reviews on mine an it's a Sportkilt no less.
At some point in the future I'd like to acquire a TFCK (or several), heck I might even try a jacket or two.
CT - but Seamus and SK will do for now

As for me, I'll stick with the more traditional tartan. I will admit that the others are certainly handsome and tasteful! Just not what I personally would want to wear, but then I always did dress out of the "mainstream" back when I had to dress for work. (matching vest and trousers, contrasting jacket). Each to his own as far as I am concerned.

I kind of like Rocky's suit but do you know the first thing that hit my mind.
A remake of the movie " The Godfather" with them wearing pinstripe kilt suits.

I thought about going with a more "subtle" pin, but I already HAVE solid tweed kilts, so I wanted to go a littl further away on the "make a statement" scale. As I said, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for something DIFFERENT, I dig it.

About $730 - $770 for a 5 yard kilt and Jacket and Vest (Price depending on the kilt measurements)
Add about $150 for a Premier 8 yard kilt with the jacket and vest.
Matching flashes are $25.
We probably won't advertise that we do the pinstripe kilt suit, but we can do it on request.
