Warning! We're Coming!
Just thought I'd give an early heads up: for all those crazy enough to want to spend time with our family (and all those who would like to get out of town!), we'll be visiting July 30th through August 2nd.
We'd love to get together with as many area kilties as we can during our visit.
We'll be leaving some of the arranging up to The Wizard, but I thought we'd just make a general announcement about when we'll be around. Steve has graciously offered to put us up, but no other definite plans have been made yet.
Suggestions? Feel free to post or PM either Jamie (Panache) or myself.
Remember, we'll have the children along, so no strip clubs or late, late nights!
Be well,
Star

Well, I'm a Vancouverite (at least for now!), so let me know if, & where, you'll be gathering in Vancouver, and I'll try to meet up.

We have quite a few things planned for the visit of Star and Jamie but most will be over here on the Island and in Victoria.
Maybe we should try to arrange a carpool for those from the mainland to come over for the Kilt Night.

August long weekend. Busiest days of the year for BC Ferries. Reservations are a must. And me picking up my new travel trailer in Chilliwack on the 31st. I'd love to go to the Island, but this looks difficult.
No chance of spending a night in Vancouver? You can overnight at my place, which is 10 minutes from the ferry.
If you are taking a BC Ferry, reserve a sailing on an even-numbered hour. That will keep you off the overly huge ferries. You should be okay crossing before 3:00 pm without reservations until Thursday.

That is great news, Star. Anna and I would love to spend time with you and your family while you're here. I'll put out a couple of suggestions:
1.A pool party and pot luck BBQ for your family and the local rabble at our place. We thought this might be a good way to get together in a bairn-friendly environment. We've got a pool and hot tub in our back yard, and there is a nice beach with a specialty playground (Cadborosaurus, Octopus, pirate ship, swings, etc. that I used to play on as a kid) a five minute walk from our house. We live about a 10-15 minute drive from Steve and Bobbie. Bathing suits and kilts are the suggested attire.
2.Anna and I could take your kids to the petting zoo in Beacon Hill Park (or anything else they'd like to do) while you and Jamie enjoy some adult time having a quiet drink in the Bengal Lounge. The Bengal has been in the Empress Hotel since before I was allowed to drink G & T's, and from what I know of you and Jamie from XMTS, I think you'd really enjoy the ambience.

These are just a couple of things off the top of my head. Let us know what you think!
All the best,
David

Well, I'm doing a kind of opposite trip just after you. I'm flying down to NorCal on the 3rd, so, I'm going to be a bit too busy to jump over to Victoria. Regardless of whether I get to see you in the flesh or not, I hope you have a wonderful time in BC!

I assume that you will be spending at least one night in Vancouver. We should head out to Dublin Crossing for food. I will try to be kilted! It is the riding season after all.

Wow I wish Mrs. Kiltman and I could be there too. One of these days we might meet up in California when we are visiting our son and daughter in law. Too bad your visit is scheduled during the Spokane Highland Games on August 1. Maybe you all could move the part over here.

BC Kilt Night?
My Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess and I have been talking about our time in BC
Our plans for Victoria are to see Steve's Museum in the morning and have tea at the Empress in the afternoon on day, and visit the gardens the next.
We were hoping to meet up with the Victoria Kilties on the evening of Friday July 31st (Starting out at Steve's Shop?)
And we would love like to see about meeting up with the Vancouver Rabble on the evening Saturday August 1st.
We do hope to meet as many of you all as we can
Cheers
