Truly, frugal! Love it!

Boot blousers are still a live and well used here in the Canadian Forces. Quite a booming industry really since so many troops lose them on a regular basis. I must admit that I ha never thought of wearing them with my hose until now. Thanks for the idea!

Just checked and I've still got a pair. However, they're 40 years old and not much stretch left.

Uh-oh. Hope we didn't hijack this thread.

The Marine Corps does, civilians can get them here:

If anyone is in dire need, send me a PM. I've got several pairs packed away with my old uniforms.

Maybe I should patent this idea! Hmmm. (Let's see, add the I could put a celtic knot on the top, or offer clan crests . . . .)
That is truly ridiculous. Thumb tacks would pop right out. But a staple gun would be about right. Nail gun might be a bit of overkill. But I suppose the added bling from a nice finishing nail would be an interesting touch.

Don't know about finishing nails, with that small head they might not hold the fabric very well. I'd say opt for roofing nails. The large, flat head would hold fabric well and have some show as well. Could even paint them to match/compliment the kilt colors.

OK, guess I'm not the only one who went off on a tangent.

Yeah, sorry for straying. Now, I can see a pair of those garters in the original post photos being paired with some castellated hose. That might just look pretty nice. Or, with some coarse weave hose in a more Jacobite look.

You could use a very small safety pin. It wouldn't show, and it shouldn't be uncomfortable.

Hah- I was just kidding, brother. I like garters w/o flashes, not the other way around.
