Kilted? Now RACE!
The Gung Haggis Fat Choy Dragon Boat Team had an awesome day yesterday at the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival where we competed with 22 other teams in 10 person voyageur canoes for bragging rights on the Fraser River. The courses were 1,500-2000m long and we each (two teams were entered under the Gung Haggis name) raced three times. The courses involved many turns (ever try to 180º a ten seat canoe?) and lots of 'close encounters', but there was only one capsizing all day. Those canoes can be tippy. Needless to say I'm sore and tired, but proud and satisfied.
Here I am psyching myself up for the second race ...

And here are both teams in the final race side by side. We made the same heat. There are 4 kilts in this photo. Can you spot them all?

As a side note, I have been wearing this same kilt to almost every practice and race (donned my PV Can Donald Casual a couple of times) and it has held up extremely well even in the briny, often grungy water of False Creek. Don't let anyone tell you that salt water will ruin your kilt quickly because as you can plainly see, it won't.
