Unlimited uses for the smaller bits if you have a bit of sewing skill.
I had a family tartan scarf beset by some pesky moths. After freezing the cloth to remove any remaining evildoers, I used the remaining portions for hat badge flashes, a permanent pocket square for a sport coat (the front pocket being non-functional), a new bow on an otherwise uninspiring hat band, etc.
Anything you want to add a bit of family color and embellishment to an existing garment, go for it.
For the larger square, perhaps the top to a tam? Hem the edges and use it for a small table piece on special occasions?
