I like the IDEA of the knit tie - the texture, the change of pace. But, like Tobus, I prefer a nice clean, tight knot with a dimple below, and woven silk or wool tend to do that best. I suppose if the knit were tight and smooth enough, and of a fiber that resisted stretching, I would be a willing guinea pig. Where's a tie engineer when you need one? I do vaguely remember some knit ties having a grosgrain backing, presumably to alleviate the stretching issue? As far as the bottom goes, given a choice, I would pick a point over a square.
