    Actually, it's more like the object permanence thing. If they don't make eye contact, you don't exist. Hence, they don't have to feel awkward and acknowledge you are wearing something that makes them ill at ease.

    BTW, I'm trying to picture what one would actually look like wearing a quilt. I'm sure it has to have box pleats.
