On Sunday, 24 March 2013, the Victorian Pipe Band Championships were held at Haileybury College in the south east suburbs of Melbourne. There were four divisions, Juvenille, Grade 4, Grade 3 and Grade 2.

One for all the flatcappers out there. One of the international judges, from New Zealand but born in Ireland, was wearing a flat cap during the morning competition. At the luncheon interval I managed to have a chat with him and queried the flat cap. He told me that he had left his glengarry at his hotel and he need a cover because of the hot morning sun were having at the competition. After the competition resumed he managed to borrow a glengarry from someone and wore that the the remainder of the day

Hawthorn City Pipes and Drums - Tartan McKenzie
Moorabbin City Pipes and Drums - Tartan - Bruce (Current Australian Grade 2 Champions)
They have a 12 member drum corps
Pipe Band Club of NSW travelled to melbourne to try and usurp the local talent - Taran Mac Donald of Clanranald
