So, David, why, when the OP is asking for opinions about which type of doublet for formal and semi formal (whatever that is!) attire, do you say that a doublet won't replace a tweed Argyle for day wear? If I understood correctly, the OP was not talking about day wear. Indeed, it is rare to wear any sort of doublet for day wear (Matt's tweed Sheriffmuir notwithstanding).
