Jocking a Mackie
I'm having trouble getting my new Mackie balmoral shaped. I've always soaked my berets, rolled them in a towel and wrung the water out, put them one, shaped them, then worn them until dry, or nearly so and have never been disappointed with the result. However, my new Mackie didn't seem to like the treatment. It developed a lot of ripples, or puckers that it didn't have before the treatment. This is the first bonnet I've jocked that had a lining, and I'm wondering if the lining has caused the problem. I didn't want to cut it out before giving the usual process a try, but recall some have recommended it. Should I cut out the lining and start over again?
I did manage to get the bonnet to set on my head without the dreaded pizza boy look, but I think it would look nicer without the ripples.
