My wife made herself an Argyll-inspired tweed jacket with tartan lapels to go with a tartan skirt and I really like it, though I wouldn't really want one myself, and I find those PC examples way over the top and not particularly well done at that.

As for eight-strings, I don't seem to have any kind of serious intonation problems with my '69 Hagstrom, though it was one of the late ones with an eight-saddle bridge, which helps a lot. It's the fourth sample in this clip (Kala fretless bass uke, Custom Gibson LP, rebuilt Rickenbacker 2030, Pedulla Buzz, Fretless Hofner, Fretted Hofner).
