My wife made herself an Argyll-inspired tweed jacket with tartan lapels to go with a tartan skirt and I really like it, though I wouldn't really want one myself, and I find those PC examples way over the top and not particularly well done at that.

As for eight-strings, I don't seem to have any kind of serious intonation problems with my '69 Hagstrom, though it was one of the late ones with an eight-saddle bridge, which helps a lot. It's the fourth sample in this clip (Kala fretless bass uke, Custom Gibson LP, rebuilt Rickenbacker 2030, Pedulla Buzz, Fretless Hofner, Fretted Hofner).

Todd - her jacket LOOKS right, not like someone just tacked some tartan on a man's jacket. I like what she's done! The original post? My reaction is, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.....

I know I have issues - I measure out pleats with a Vernier calliper - but those are just painfully close and yet so obviously 'off' you'd almost think it was done on purpose

Of course fully tartan jackets are a very old thing in Highland Dress, though one doesn't see them all that much nowadays.

Here's a tartan Argyll, in Atholl Murray

I'm used to seeing tartan jackets as part of an entire matching outfit.

But then there's this! Tartan jacket and plain kilt

About feminine attire, that's another matter entirely, to me. I've seen many lovely women's outfits with tartan trim on a plain jacket.

    For sure! It looks awful.

This is the worst example I think I've ever seen, and it took me a minute to figure out what was wrong
